NEETs Unlimited

There are approximately 1 million trustees in the UK. There are 1 million young people classified as not in employment, education or training(NEET). By supporting and mentoring one or more NEETs, charity trustees can break down obstacles preventing young people from acheiving employment, education and training.

ELIMINATING NEET

Helping young people to find the employment, education or training opportunities that are right for them by giving young people the opportunity to create their own solutions to employment problems through starting something themselves. We will facilitate this support through a smart phone application that helps with ideas generation before turning the idea into a viable income generating business. It’s clear that young people are the solution to their own problems and with support they have the potential to innovate and come up with the next big business or idea.

Spotted mobile phone app: Spot it. Share it.

As part of the Interactivism Hack Weekend, Enabled by Design and Go Genie were invited to join forces and work together on developing a mobile phone app to support both projects. We would like to develop a mobile phone app to allow our communities to contribute to our existing websites (http://www.enabledbydesign.org and the Go Genie website which is currently being developed by http://www.peskypeople.co.uk/) more easily and while out and about. The mobile app would give people the ability to take a photo on their phone of a 'Love', 'Hate' or something they've 'Spotted', write some accompanying text and post it to the site by sending it as a text message. A bit like twitpic but for the Enabled by Design and Go Genie websites respectively.

Innovation get-togethers: map the networks

There are a number of digital/social innovation spaces and networks in the field: Simpl, dotgovlabs, the emerging knowledge hub, SocialbySocial, with overlapping memberships and ideas. Why not get together face to face, as Sandie has suggested? A first step could be some network mapping.
