Good literacy development from an early age is an important asset in every child’s life. Reading serves as the major foundational skill for all school-based learning – it is a multifaceted process involving word recognition, comprehension, fluency, and motivation. Our idea is a collaborative venture created to provide a new perspective, build on knowledge and develop important life skills. “Learn & display literacy project” can materialise by uniting children, young people, parents, cultural leaders and museums in Tower Hamlets, London. Participants develop a cultural storybook outside of school in order to increase literacy rates, community engagement and parental involvement in children’s reading development.

But it also provides significant cross-curricular learning opportunities in History, Geography, Citizenship, Religious Studies and several other subjects

I reject the notion that apathy is the reason the rebellions of the Middle East have not spread to the west. Where I am from, US, the workforce must endure longer and longer hours for less and less pay. By the time people get home from work, so they can support their families, they have barely enough energy to think let alone educate themselves on the facts and their rights as individuals, citizens of the world. My idea would bring resources together to deliver truth where all others fail.

The single most valuable thing we can do for vulnerable children is to ensure that the professionals in their lives have the training to notice that they are vulnerable, and to help them. We have the knowledge, but the training is not accessible to the children's workforce. I want to build the skill and confidence of every professional working with vulnerable children, by providing an accessible, meaningful, and useful module based teaching programme.
