Idea of the week: Go Genie

Another week, another top idea. This week we’re shining the Simpl spotlight on Go Genie, from Alison Smith.
Go Genie is a web and mobile based platform that shares information, enabling people to make informed decisions to plan a trip if they are disabled, elderly, are carers, are using pushchairs… basically everything that makes getting from A to B trickier than it should be.
Go Genie hopes that its service can help make the world more accessible. At the moment access information is often poorly presented and often difficult to find. According to BIS, these barriers result in a quarter of potential customers being turned away from businesses either physically or virtually.
So, where do you go to when it goes wrong? How do you let others know of your experience? How do you recommend good service?
Enter Go Genie! Harnessing the ethos of crowdsourcing, people’s existing knowledge can be shared to help make a big difference to what they and others do everyday…
The idea has recently received seed funding to deliver a small pilot build, and has already attracted interest from local government and social innovators alike – including Telford and Wrekin Council and Enabled by Design.
But Go Genie needs YOU! Specifically, Alison is looking for support from web developers, digital experts, business planning support, workspace and wifi in Shropshire, as well as anyone who thinks they could help move things along elsewhere.
If you can offer any support at all, you can get bidding over on their Simpl page. Your offer can vary from coffee to cash – so make sure you get bidding!
