MentaPeep is about finding the right people to guide you onto your career path through 1st hand support and advice. By putting people in touch with those currently in the environment they wish to pursue, they can gain an insight to how, why and what is required as part of the job or training.

The problem

Today many people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training are unsure of career paths to pursue and exactly what is required to excel in that environment. This often causes confusion and a lack of understanding of the field and MentaPeep would help people by giving them someone suitable to talk to.

Young people don't have direct access to people who actually do the jobs they want  and by talking to somebody in the job role they aim to attain, it would help them understand and simplify the path to success.

There are many aspects that are unknown before choosing and entering a particular role, these things include not knowing:

- What options are available to them

- What the job is like on a day-to-day basis

- The lifestyle that comes with the job or training.

The idea

The idea focuses on putting those Not in Education, Employment or Training in positions of confidence by pairing them with people in current jobs they aspire to reach,  thus providing them with an opportunity to aspire to learn from an internal view of the job role.

Together they can provide support & somebody to talk to regarding specific questions. This means they can get a better understanding of the aspects of the role that are unseen e.g. lifestyle. They can then ask about advantages and disadvantages from a 1st hand point of view, as well as discussing in depth areas like the work life balance.

Talking to somebody in the actual job as opposed to getting information from a careers advisor, where advice may be more generalised and not from 1st hand knowledge, could be very beneficial to those seeking their path.

- People who want to give back

Hi Mohammed,

Definitely a need for this and lot's going on in this area already although there is a lot of room for new ideas and collaboration.  Love the name - MentaPeeps.

Have a look at www.mentorwell.com which might cover the platform/matching needs that you have or we may be able to work together depending on what you have planned.  We will hopefully be at hacktivism so can chat there.
